Software & Features

Android 7.1.1 Nougat & OxygenOS 4.5.5

If you like the silky smooth Android experience, OxygenOS pretty much offers one of the cleanest builds of all. The launcher itself resembles a lot to the Google’s Pixel Launcher, except that swiping left loads the “Shelf” widget dock instead of Google Now.

The interface is clean and stayed as original as they could. This means the company is not wasting their resources trying to fix something that’s not broken. *cough*bixby*cough* What I really like about the OxygenOS is the fact that they have loads of customisation such as night mode for the settings menu.

Reading Mode & Gaming Mode

Whether you’re an avid reader or gamer, OxygenOS has special features to support whichever you like most. For instance, reading mode optimises the display through grey scale mapping and blue light filter. Unlike any other app that simply turns off the blue light, the reading mode on OnePlus 5 literally turns the display into a monochrome like display.

Gaming mode meanwhile turns off the annoying notifications as well as temporarily disables the soft keys to avoid accidental taps.
