Audio & Display

Audio

The single channel bottom firing speaker is loud and clear for loudspeaker calls & instant voice messages. Multimedia consumption such as movies and games can be a bit annoying because the speaker is easily blocked by your palm while holding the phone.

Display

The OnePlus 5 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. The panel has vivid colours and deep blacks. Viewing angle is wide without any colour distortion. Overall, the screen offers very good performance.

Some of you may ask why OnePlus still hesitate to move on from 1080p panels when the other brands have mostly moved on to 1440p resolution. My personal opinion is that 1080p panels are still relevant today because apart from the numbers on the paper, we can’t actually tell the difference between the 1080p and 1440p panels on 5.5-inch displays. Even if you manage to differentiate them, just how much is it going to affect your day to day life?
