Performance & Battery Life

Snapdragon 835, 6 GB RAM & 64 GB storage

In terms of hardware, you won’t be disappointed with the performance of the OnePlus 5. The Snapdragon 835 uses the 10nm FinFET fabrication process which, other than reducing the package size by 35% compared to Snapdragon 820, also increases the power efficiency and reduces heat output.

The high-end octa core processor is capable of handling almost anything you could throw at it. Coupled with the 6 GB of RAM, multitasking on this phone is a piece of cake. Just so you know, OnePlus also offers another higher end variant of the OP5 which has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage.

Battery Life

As the Snapdragon 835 is a power efficient chip, OnePlus 5’s battery life is magnificent. It lasted throughout my day to day usage, unplugged for 15 hours and I manage to get around 5 hours of screen-on-time. I even went through an overnight bus ride to Kelantan while listening to music over Bluetooth and some occasional games. My friends were surprised that my phone is still running strong while they have to look for wall sockets.

Dash Charge

When it is time to juice up the phone, Dash Charge is capable of topping up the 3300 mAh battery from 10% to 90% in just 60 minutes! Believe it or not, OnePlus’s Dash Charge is probably the fastest Quick Charge technology I have ever used. Best of all, I barely felt any rise in the temperature during the whole charging session. Good job OnePlus.

Then, there’s always a condition. OnePlus’ Dash Charge will only work with their own Charger and USB cable. Using third-party USB-C cable? you’re only getting normal charging rates.
