Samsung launches new Galaxy Tab S12 series with Ultra and Plus models
Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Series, made up of the Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+. At just 5.1mm thin, the Tab S12 Ultra is officially Samsung’s thinnest Galaxy Tab ever, while somehow still packing the most powerful hardware the lineup has seen so far.
Performance gets a real bump this generation thanks to the new 3nm processor, which delivers up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance, and 17% better GPU power compared to the Tab S11 Ultra, which should translate to smoother handling of demanding creative work or intensive multitasking. A newly designed 3D Vapor Chamber helps dissipate heat during longer editing or rendering sessions, and both models carry IP68 water and dust resistance for some added peace of mind.
Battery life is genuinely solid too, rated at up to 23 hours on the Tab S12 Ultra and up to 21 hours on the Tab S12+, and when you do need to recharge, the included 45W adapter takes it from 0 to 100% in about 95 minutes. Display-wise, the Ultra gets a large 14.6-inch screen while the S12+ comes in at 12.6 inches with slimmer bezels than its predecessor, and both use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels hitting up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, with an upgraded Vision Booster adjusting brightness in real time based on your surroundings. Audio also improved, now running 4-channel spatial sound, double the channels from the previous generation.
Software-wise, both tablets run Android 17 with One UI 9 and the latest Galaxy AI baked in. Multi Window support lets you split the screen into up to three sections, handy for taking notes in Samsung Notes while watching a lecture and chatting with an AI assistant simultaneously, and Note Assist can summarize your notes on the fly without interrupting anything. Both tablets come bundled with an S Pen for note-taking and sketching, and there’s an optional Book Cover Keyboard Slim with a dedicated Galaxy AI key for quick assistant access. Samsung’s also throwing in a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, giving early access to Gemini and Gemini Notebook for research and summarization.
Samsung is also bundling Adobe Photoshop, which comes with a complete set of AI tools like Generative Fill powered by Adobe Firefly, and buyers get four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan. Notability comes pre-loaded with a six-month free trial and 20% off afterward; Goodnotes offers a full year free, LumaFusion is available at a 66% discount, Notion throws in a free month of its Plus plan, and Clip Studio Paint comes with a six-month trial. A handful of other apps round things out too, including MyScript Math for solving handwritten equations and ArcSite for converting field sketches into CAD drawings.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Series launches in Malaysia on October 7 in Gray and Silver, with eligible customers able to grab it starting from RM127.75 per month through November 8, 2026.
