CelcomDigi’s MY5G SME Digital Workshop Hits Northern Region, Training Over 300 Local Businesses
CelcomDigi Berhad has completed the Northern leg of its MY5G SME Digital Workshop, bringing practical digital upskilling tools to more than 300 local business owners. Now in its fourth year, the nationwide initiative has trained over 3,000 Malaysian entrepreneurs to date.
The 2026 edition introduces tailored learning tracks based on business maturity:
- Early-Stage Businesses: Modules center on establishing a digital footprint and online visibility.
- Established Enterprises: Workshops focus on integrating accessible technology solutions directly into daily operations to streamline management.
Key Industry Partners & On-Ground Outreach
The Northern workshop featured support from a broad ecosystem of financial institutions, government agencies, and digital platform partners, including:
- Fintech & Financial Solutions: Funding Societies Malaysia, Swipey, CTOS Data Systems, and CardUp.
- Government & Development Agencies: SME Corp Malaysia, SME Bank, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), MARA, and Digital Penang.
- Industry & Commerce: SAMENTA, TikTok Shop Malaysia, and Onsmo Lighting.
Alongside classroom sessions, CelcomDigi deployed its Skuad 5G Edisi SME for direct market visits to locations like Pasar Awam Bagan Ajam and Pasar Awam Sri Muda in Penang, engaging with over 110 micro-entrepreneurs on-site.
Practical Tools for Real-World Growth
The program emphasizes actionable digital adoption rather than theoretical tech concepts.
“SMEs do not need digitalisation to be complicated. They need solutions that address challenges such as reaching new customers, managing cash flow, creating content, or finding the right partners to grow,” said T Kugan, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at CelcomDigi. “Our on-ground engagements bring conversations directly to business owners, making digitalisation more relevant, accessible, and actionable.”
Local entrepreneurs Puan Noor Shamsiah and Encik Mohd Hasnizam—founders of Dapur Bakar Ayam Goreng Kunyit—noted that past workshop sessions helped them scale their business from a single three-wheel cart in Penang to 13 outlets nationwide using CelcomDigi Business Postpaid and Fibre
