Sonos Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra launch in Malaysia with new AI-powered features
Sonos is bringing a new pair of audio products and a revamped software experience to Malaysia, with the Beam Ultra, Sonos Ace Ultra, and Sonos 27 making their local debut September 29.
To start, the Beam Ultra keeps the compact footprint of the Beam while stepping up the home theatre experience with support for true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos. It packs nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing drivers, alongside a redesigned centre channel aimed at delivering clearer dialogue and warmer bass.
For those looking to build out a larger setup, the Beam Ultra can be paired with a Sonos Sub or compatible portable Sonos speakers used as Portable Surrounds. That gives listeners more flexibility to move those portable speakers around the home when they’re not needed as part of the home theatre system.
Sonos is also putting more control over dialogue into users’ hands with four levels of AI Speech Enhancement. The feature lets listeners fine-tune how prominent dialogue sounds, while Night Sound is available for quieter late-night viewing.
Over on the personal listening side, the Sonos Ace Ultra is a new premium over-ear headphone featuring a Sonos-designed 40mm driver, Adaptive ANC powered by 10 microphones, and up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC enabled.
The headphones run on Sonos’ Headphone Engine 2 and introduce direct headphone linking with the Sonos system. With a single press, listeners can move whatever is playing on their Sonos system to the Ace Ultra, or send it back to the speakers, without needing a phone nearby.
From the software perspective, Sonos also released “Sonos 27” which is the latest version update that brings new AI capabilities and a redesigned app experience. The update also gives Sonos products more ways to work together, with the company aiming for its connected audio system to become more responsive over time.
One of the more interesting additions is Sonos 27mcp, which uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect Sonos systems with AI platforms such as ChatGPT. Instead of reaching for the Sonos app, listeners can use natural-language requests through their AI platform to play music in a particular room, adjust the volume, or move audio between speakers.
Sonos has also previewed Sonos Custom Agents, which are planned for 2027. The feature is designed to let users create their own AI agents within the Sonos system, complete with their own model, persona, and voice.
