Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026 campaign engages Malaysian medical community to tackle diabetes through innovation
One of the latest campaigns run by the Taiwan International Trade Administration and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council under the “Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026” global call-for-proposals initiative was in Malaysia, as they joined the Diabetes Malaysia Conference 2026 from June 12 to 14 to draw strong local interest toward Taiwanese health technology.

This initiative engaged with over 300 professionals from the medical, public health, academic, and industrial sectors, and at the right timing too, as Malaysia’s recent National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023 shows an adult diabetes prevalence rate of 15.6%, meaning one in six adults lives with the condition, plus approximately 40% of these individuals remain completely unaware of their diagnosis.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin, President of Diabetes Malaysia, noted that managing the disease requires turning knowledge into action, explaining that integrating new tools will elevate care quality and control outcomes.

Local experts view the program as a bridge to mature industrial resources, with government representative Dr. Nurul Shuhada indicating the campaign inspires fresh thinking on addressing health challenges through innovation, while pharmaceutical professional Vanessa Lim highlighted that Taiwan possesses a mature foundation in medical research and innovation that offers deep international competitiveness.
Paediatric endocrinologist Dr. Alexis Anand Dass A/L Lordudass also pointed out that obesity, diabetes, and metabolic diseases are pressing regional health challenges, meaning cross-disciplinary models combining smart healthcare, sports technology, and health promotion schemes will effectively raise public awareness and preventive efficacy.
Organisers confirmed that Malaysia’s growing interest in disease prevention and smart healthcare applications aligns directly with the campaign objectives, which aim to connect global ideas with Taiwan’s healthcare tech ecosystem to transform concepts into practical solutions.
Meanwhile, the “Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026” global call-for-proposals is accepting submissions until August 5, and the top three winning teams will each receive a prize of USD 30,000 alongside opportunities to collaborate with leading Taiwanese enterprises and technology platforms.
