Arm’s forum over at COMPUTEX 2022 is taking a big turn compared to last year’s topic as they put a focus on the impact and changes brought by COVID-19 and among other things.

Hosted by CK Tseng, the President of ARM Taiwan, he begins the session with a quick look back at the influences and shifts of the industry created by COVID-19. Large factories, warehouses, and smart retail are among the sectors that benefited the most from adopting a fully digitalized operation.

As such, Arm realized that a creative way of providing a solution that matches the next wave of technological revolution is required.

Sharing on how they did it, Tseng first introduced us to the Arm Flexible Access (AFA) business model where every client can pick, mix, and match anything they need before deciding during the final checkout. By allowing customers to get and pay for what they want, they could gain access to specific IPs, tools, and trainings with a low entry barrier. At best, associated charges are only engaged from the date of manufacturing using the final SoC design.

He also mentioned AFA for Startups, an almost identical program dedicated to qualifying startups with limited funding to gain access to more Arm produced information at no cost. Other small scale companies are also part of the IC Design Platform that is a joint effort between Arm, ITRI, and Industrial Development Bureau (IDB).

To finish up the session, Tseng noted that Arm is with great confidence in continuing the delivering of innovative solutions in AI, autonomous systems, cloud computing, the Metaverse, and more.
