Synology users may now use BeeStation Plus to monitor their premise via the BeeCamera app
Synology has introduced a new privacy-first home monitoring experience for BeeStation Plus, extending its capabilities beyond personal storage to now serve as the hub of a home monitoring system, while leveraging Synology Cameras and the new BeeCamera mobile app to deliver smart surveillance without relying on the cloud or recurring subscription fees.

Positioned as a simple plug-and-play alternative to cloud storage, BeeStation Plus now integrates local and remote monitoring features, allowing users to manage files, photos, and surveillance in one place, while pairing with Synology Cameras to enable on-device AI detection for people, pets, vehicles, and intrusion events, alongside a unified experience for live viewing, alerts, and event playback.
It is made to be flexible as it can connect up to 4 cameras at once, with the BeeCamera app allowing customization of AI detection alerts, recording schedules, and detection zones to minimize unnecessary notifications, along with retention settings based on available local storage.
All captured events are organized into a unified timeline, making it easier to review daily activity and filter by event type, while key moments can be saved into collections to prevent them from being overwritten, whether for security reference or personal memories.
Designed with both families and small businesses in mind, the solution enables users to monitor loved ones, pets, or shop spaces without ongoing fees, while also supporting shared access for up to 8 users, allowing invited members to view live feeds, receive alerts, and review recorded events seamlessly.
