Philips brings its Baristina one-swipe espresso machine to Malaysia

Philips Malaysia has brought in the new Baristina espresso machine to deliver a simple way of making a cup of coffee with just a simple swipe.

The machine aims to bridge the gap between traditional espresso machines and capsule-based coffee makers. Rather than dealing with complicated settings or manual preparation, users simply load their favourite coffee beans, swipe the portafilter, and the machine automatically grinds, tamps, and brews a fresh espresso or lungo in under a minute.

At the center, the Baristina packs a ceramic bean grinder that automatically adjusts its calibration based on the coffee beans being used to help optimise extraction. It also comes with a 16-bar pressure pump for rich espresso topped with café-style crema.

After finishing, cleaning requires only a rinse or wipe to the portafilter, avoiding the multiple compartments commonly found in traditional espresso machines. Since it uses fresh coffee grounds instead of disposable capsules, the spent coffee puck can also be composted, reducing single-use plastic waste.

For milk-based drinks, Philips also offers an optional standalone milk frother capable of preparing both hot and cold milk foam for beverages like lattes and cappuccinos.

Despite its automatic operation, the Baristina maintains a compact footprint that should fit comfortably on most kitchen countertops. It is available in Black and Milky White colour options, while interchangeable portafilter handles in Milky White, Mango Yellow, Black, and Wood finishes allow owners to personalise the machine’s appearance.
