At IFA 2018, LG is introducing the world’s first 8K OLED TV with Google Assistant that works alongside AI ThinQ.

8K OLED TV

The 88-inch 8K LG OLED TV features over 33 million self-emitting pixels to produce the unmatched contrast ratio and true blacks that define OLED TV’s iconic picture quality.

Despite all the advancement in the LCD industry, there is still no other technology that could match the currently existing OLED with self-emitting pixels. It eliminates the requirement of backlight hence enabling the reproduction of true black.

Google Assistant & AI ThinQ

First announced in CES 2018, LG is committed to working with Google to integrate Google Assistant into their home appliances. With the announcement of the world’s first 88-inch 8K OLED TV, LG customers will be able to use the Google Assistant on their 2018 TVs with AI ThinQ in the fourth Quarter.

Besides, seven more markets – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom will also receive the new update alongside with the support of up to five languages. Sadly, Malaysians are not part of the first batch to receive the new update but during our previous interview with the LG top management, Malaysia is in the future update roadmap.

The Google Assistant is compatible with more than 5,000 smart devices across hundreds of popular brands, making it easier to control speakers and other smart home devices connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Basically, with Google Assistant, this means LG is well prepared for the future of smart home where numerous home devices such as robot vacuum cleaners, thermostats, air purifiers and smart lighting are interconnected.
