Sunway Malls Introduces Unified Payment Terminal; Hello Multiple Cashless Payments

2 min read

As part of Sunway’s journey to digitalisation, Sunway has implemented the Unified Payment Terminal(UPT) which is an all-in-one payment terminal that accepts a variety of cashless payments ranging from e-wallets, debit cards, and credit card transactions.

This hassle-free experience is a very welcomed one as we all may experience beforehand that cashless payments have been somewhat messy where one retailer accepts one terminal and rejects another. The participating cashless options in the UPT are Boost, GrabPay, Maybank, QRPay, and Touch ‘n Go eWallet as of this time of writing.

And to encourage the brand new feature to be used, Sunway Pyramid is offering shoppers the chance to earn 10x Sunway Pals points when they paying using any one of the participating cashless options until the 31st December of 2019. For shoppers who spend RM 200 and above using NETS (another cashless option), they will receive RM 15 worth of Sunway Pals points until the end of June 2020.

HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks says, “The introduction of the Unified Payment Terminal is one of the many ways we want to improve our shoppers’ as well as retailers’ experience in Sunway Pyramid. We look forward to creating more convenient, efficient and safer environments for all who choose us as their preferred shopping destination now and in the future.”

“This collaboration is indeed timely, with more Singaporeans travelling to Malaysia in the festive seasons. Singapore shoppers can now enjoy a streamlined retail experience via NETS at Sunway malls. They won’t have to worry about having cash on hand, as cardholders using NETS ATM cards will enjoy competitive exchange rates and will not incur any foreign exchange fees for their purchases. This is part of NETS’ regional plans to make payments secure, seamless and convenient for our cardholders when they travel overseas. We hope that this will help Singaporeans shop with peace of mind knowing that there is a reliable, familiar and safe payment option even when they are overseas.” said David Woo, Group Chief Technology Officer, NETS.

Since October, Sunway Malls has rolled out this initiative in three other malls including Sunway Velocity Mall, Sunway Putra Mall, Sunway Carnival Mall and Sunway Citrine Hub.
