Sony Malaysia unveils brand-new RX1R III full-frame compact camera with fixed lens
Sony Malaysia has introduced its latest RX1R III camera, equipped with a 61MP 35 mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor, an advanced BIONZ XR image processing engine, and a ZEISS Sonnar T* 35 mm F2 lens.
As mentioned, the new Sony RX1R III pairs a 61MP full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor with the BIONZ XR image processor for impressive image quality, wide dynamic range, and low noise. The sensor boasts an anti-reflective coating and omits the optical low-pass filter for enhanced clarity, while the precisely aligned fixed lens ensures excellent optical performance.
Equipped with Sony’s latest AI processing unit, the RX1R III offers advanced subject recognition and tracking. Its autofocus is powered by 693 phase-detection points covering about 78% of the frame. Despite its fixed lens design, the camera offers flexibility with Step Crop Shooting, enabling instant switching between 35mm, 50mm, and 70mm equivalent focal lengths. RAW shooters can also reselect crop modes in post, and the lens’s macro ring allows close focusing down to 20cm.
Furthermore, the RX1R III features 12 built-in Creative Looks, including nostalgic FL2 and vibrant FL3, with adjustable parameters like hue, saturation, and sharpness for both photos and video.
Crafted from lightweight magnesium alloy, the camera balances form and function with a comfortable grip, embedded dials, and a flat top design. Plus, it features a 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder with 0.70x magnification and supports extended use via USB-C Power Delivery and the NP-FW50 battery, offering up to 300 shots per charge.
With that said, the Sony RX1R III is expected to launch in the Malaysian market sometime in September.
