Samsung introduces brand-new 13-Inch Color E-Paper built with sustainable Bio-Resin from Phytoplankton
Samsung has launched its latest 13-inch Color E-Paper (EM13DX model), expanding the lineup with the first-ever display featuring a bio-resin housing derived from phytoplankton. The ultra-thin screen leverages advanced digital ink technology and ultra-low power consumption, offering businesses a practical alternative to traditional printed signage.
Samsung’s new 13-inch Color E-Paper is the most compact model in the lineup, offering a practical A4-sized (1,600 × 1,200, 4:3) display for shelves, counters, doors, and other spaces where printed signage is commonly used.
Featuring a slim 17.9mm profile and weighing just 0.9kg with its rechargeable battery, it supports USB-C and flexible mounting for cable-free installation. An advanced color imaging algorithm also enhances accuracy and readability, delivering a paper-like visual experience similar to traditional posters while consuming zero watts when displaying static images.
With sustainability being a key highlight, the display uses a housing made with 45% recycled plastic and 10% phytoplankton-based bio-resin, verified by UL. It reduces carbon emissions by over 40% compared to conventional plastics, while its 100% paper-based packaging further minimizes environmental impact. Energy usage remains significantly lower than conventional digital signage, helping businesses cut long-term operating costs.
For content management, the display supports the Samsung E-Paper App on Android and iOS for easy local updates, as well as Samsung VXT for cloud-based remote control, device management, and optimized content deployment.
Not only that, Samsung will also expand the lineup with a new 20-inch model debuting at ISE 2026, broadening the Color E-Paper portfolio to meet diverse business needs.
