Samsung’s research and development in the Micro LED aims to deliver unparalleled picture quality and colour accuracy without relying on organic LED technology. I know OLED is amazing but due to the use of organic molecules, they degrade faster than any panel technology.

Now, back to Micro LED, with the introduction of last year’s 146″ The Wall with Micro LED technology. This year, at CES 2019, Samsung takes the technology a step further with the 219″ The Wall. What really piques my interest is the home-friendly 75″ Micro LED display at 4K resolution. This is a noteworthy achievement by using microscopic LED chips. That means we are now a step closer to owning the best display in our home.

The modular nature of Micro LED allows manufacturer to split the screen into multiple module sizes so that users can build their own display according to their requirements. Some of you might ask what about resolution and scaling? Actually it is not that difficult to manage the scaling as long as the pixel density remains constant.

Most importantly, Micro LED displays are bezel-free, there are no borders between the modules to allow the modularity feature of the display. Imagine you can build your own TV, and expand in the future.

While we’re not at the CES 2019, do check out Engadget’s report to understand why modular TV is such a big deal.
