[Innovation Tech Flash Computex Special 2021] Arm delves deep into Armv9, security and green computing during 1st keynote at COMPUTEX 2021

Arm’s 1st keynote delivered by CEO Simon Segars has ended yesterday and he has revealed interesting information and elements that we have summarized below for a quick read.

1. New generation architecture brought into Armv9

Originally announced during March, Arm’s latest and next-generation architecture Armv9 promises to pack security, computing efficiency, sustainability, and AI support into a single package in an effort to tackle the needs to complete complex processes involving neural network and addressing the global demand for ubiquitous specialized processing with increasingly capable security and AI.

2. Brand new security architecture integrated into Armv9 for secure data process

With major chip manufacturers getting hardware-level exploits disclosed publicly in recent years, Arm has dedicated a new security method called Confidential  Compute architecture that isolates sensitive data into another secure memory region where it is fully encrypted in addition to other supportive features like memory locking and tagging extensions.

3. Energy efficiency key to reducing CO2 emissions

Arm’s Neoverse V2 and Neoverse N2 are the company’s core compute platforms that offer a high level of computing efficiency optimized for sustainability and performance in mind. By reducing the use of unnecessary energy to perform tasks in a smart way instead of brute-forcing, CO2 emission can be cut down in the long term.

4. Arm to tap into the world’s potential in creating technological advancement

Arm and NVIDIA will be going hand to hand in bringing the age of AI closer by channeling technology in both hardware and software to create breakthroughs usable as a transformative force in our world. Not only that, but Segars also expressed his appreciation to Arm partners who will always be the driving force behind Arm’s success.

The overall content is more towards conveying the plans and goals of what Arm will be doing in the future as opposed to what they have achieved so it is actually great news for industries around the world when the company behind the majority of tech products have announced a brand new and seemingly “revolutionary” offering.
