Sony showcases the all-new Xperia 1 VII flagship smartphone
Sony has just unveiled its latest Xperia 1 VII flagship smartphone, developed in collaboration with the engineers behind its Alpha series digital cameras, Walkman portable audio players, and BRAVIA TVs.
With photography being the main highlight, the new Sony Xperia 1 VII boasts the new AI Camera Work for pro-level video stabilization and subject tracking. It keeps the subject centered even while filming on the move, using posture estimation and advanced image stabilization.
Plus, the Auto Framing feature leverages AI to automatically track and crop the subject, capturing both wide and close-up shots without manual adjustments, making it easy to film dynamic scenes.
Camera-wise, the smartphone features a triple rear camera setup: a new 48MP 16mm ultra-wide lens with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor for low-noise, wide dynamic range night shots and close-up macro photography; a 24mm/48mm wide-angle lens with Exmor T sensor that delivers solid low-light performance; and a telephoto lens with optical zoom ranging from 85mm to 170mm for sharp shots of distant subjects.
Furthermore, the Xperia 1 VII features audio upgrades inspired by Sony’s Walkman lineup, enhancing sound quality for wired headphones to rival dedicated music players. With AI-powered DSEE Ultimate, even compressed streaming audio sounds rich and immersive. Its full-stage stereo speakers have also been fine-tuned to deliver clearer audio across all frequencies.
In terms of general specs, the smartphone features a 6.5-inch FHD+ HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, along with a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging capability.
That being said, local pricing for the new Sony Xperia 1 VII has yet to be announced, but the smartphone is expected to arrive sometime in mid-July 2025.
