Sunway Medical Centre Velocity continues partnership with Samsung Malaysia to turn Galaxy Watch8 data into real preventive care

Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) and Samsung Malaysia recently introduced the Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package, an integrated health screening experience designed to complement the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series.

The collaboration brings together real-time wellness insights from the Galaxy Watch8 and SMCV’s medical expertise, allowing users to better understand what their data actually means and what actions to take next, rather than just looking at numbers. The screening package aligns closely with the watch’s health features, covering areas like vascular load monitoring, irregular heart rate alerts, blood pressure and ECG tracking, bedtime guidance, and even carotenoid measurement, all aimed at helping users spot potential risks earlier and manage their wellbeing more proactively.

At RM1,600, the package includes an overview assessment with clinical examination, BMI, vision test, blood pressure screening, resting ECG and body composition analysis, alongside blood investigations such as full blood count, liver and kidney function, lipid profile, thyroid tests, fasting blood sugar, HbA1C and vitamin D. On top of that, there are radiology and diagnostic checks like chest X-ray, abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, pulmonary function test and stress test, plus lifestyle assessments focusing on sleep quality. Medical officer reviews and dietitian consultations round out the experience, helping validate and interpret the data generated by the smartwatch.

So here’s what’s happening. As non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes and heart disease continue to dominate Malaysia’s health landscape, accounting for almost 72% of premature deaths, preventive care is becoming a much bigger conversation. At the same time, Malaysians are already embracing wearables in daily life, with the country ranking among the world’s top ten for smartwatch usage, where about 31.3% of the population actively uses one.

That overlap between rising health awareness and widespread smartwatch adoption is exactly where Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) and Samsung Malaysia see an opportunity. The two have partnered to introduce the Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package, an integrated health screening experience designed to complement the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series. In simple terms, it’s about taking the health data people already see on their wrist and turning it into something clinically meaningful.

To mark the launch, SMCV and Samsung Malaysia are also running a limited-time campaign from December 17 – February 28, 2026, with early bird purchasers capable of receiving a complimentary Galaxy Watch8 Health Screening Package and a Samsung Galaxy Watch8, along with purchase-with-purchase discounts for both SMCV patients and Samsung customers, making the entry point more attractive for those curious about combining wearables with medical screening.
