Samsung rolls out One UI 8.5 beta with upgraded creative tools, tighter security and smoother Galaxy connectivity

Samsung has officially launched the One UI 8.5 beta program, previewing the next step of its software roadmap with a round of targeted updates designed to enhance creativity, device coordination and overall security.

To start, Photo Assist now supports continuous image generation and editing so users can experiment freely without manually saving each version, and once the edits are complete, they can scroll through a full version history to select their preferred results while Quick Share recognizes faces in photos and suggests recipients for faster sharing.

Samsung is also expanding its cross-device capabilities as One UI 8.5 introduces Audio Broadcast, which uses Auracast to stream audio – including a live feed from the phone’s microphone – to nearby LE Audio devices, a feature expected to be particularly useful for guided tours, group sessions, or events. At the same time, Storage Share consolidates files from other Galaxy devices such as tablets, PCs, and even TVs directly into the My Files app, giving users an easier, more unified way to browse content across their ecosystem.

Security gets a notable lift in this beta as well. Theft Protection adds safeguards to help protect personal data if a phone is lost or stolen, while Failed Authentication Lock automatically secures the device after repeated incorrect unlock attempts; meanwhile, a broadened identity verification step now covers more system settings to bolster overall safety.

The One UI 8.5 beta will first be available to Galaxy S25 series users in select markets beginning December 8, 2025, with sign-ups offered through the Samsung Members app.
