Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 First Look: Bigger FlexWindow; New Fan Edition Model

Samsung introduced its new Galaxy Z Flip7 series, featuring both the standard Z Flip7 and a new FE model. Many details mirror the Z Fold7, so we’ll highlight the key points.

The colors are vibrant: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and an online-exclusive Mint.

The new FlexWindow cover display is now a larger 4.1-inch edge-to-edge screen. It completely fills the space, even around the cameras. This display also boasts 2,600 nits brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate.

When opened, the main screen is a larger 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.

The Z Flip7 feels thinner in hand, though it’s a subtle design tweak. It shares the Armor FlexHinge with the Z Fold7, complete with a Grade 4 Titanium Lattice for added display strength. The ultra-thin glass is also now 50% thicker with new adhesive for better durability.

For our region, the Z Flip7 uses the new Exynos 2500 chipset, built on Samsung’s 3nm process. We’ll be testing its performance soon. The battery capacity has increased to 4,300mAh, while charging speed remains at 25W. Real-world tests will show how well it performs.

Software-wise, it runs One UI 8 out of the box, similar to the Z Fold7. The FlexWindow gets exclusive features, including voice commands for AI, a new interface, Google Lens, and the Now Bar/Now Brief. These let you do more without unfolding the phone. A unique One UI Stretched Clock Font also adapts to your wallpaper on the FlexWindow. Like the Z Fold7, it will receive 7 generations of Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security patches.

The cameras keep the same hardware: a 50MP main and 12MP ultrawide, plus a 10MP selfie camera inside. However, software improvements include the next-generation ProVisual Engine for better noise reduction and 10-bit HDR video support.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

This is the first-ever FE (Fan Edition) model in the Z Flip line. The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is essentially last year’s Z Flip6 hardware with new black and white color options.

It ships with One UI 8 and also gets the same long-term software support: 7 generations of Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security patches. For our region, the Z Flip7 FE uses the Exynos 2400 chipset, which is a capable processor.

This sums up the Galaxy Z Flip7 series for now. We’ll share a full review when we get our hands on the devices. Make sure to check out other products announced during Unpacked, like the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Watch8 series.
