Samsung upgrades Bixby into a conversational device agent with real-time web access via upcoming One UI 8.5

Samsung has teased what the upcoming redesigned Bixby could do, delivered through the version 8.5 update for the One UI software.

At the core of the update is Bixby’s ability to understand intent rather than keywords, just like the Galaxy AI, as users can describe what they want or ask why something is happening on their device, and Bixby responds by taking action or surfacing relevant settings. For example, a request to keep the screen from turning off while being viewed automatically triggers the appropriate display option, while questions about unusual behaviour, such as the screen staying on in a pocket, prompt Bixby to suggest and enable related protections.

Beyond on-device control, Bixby now supports real-time web search within its own interface. This allows users to explore topics and receive live information without being redirected to a browser or separate app, maintaining a single, continuous experience. Queries such as finding family-friendly hotels in a specific city return immediate, up-to-date results directly inside Bixby.

The updated Bixby is available through One UI 8.5 in selected markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US, with broader availability planned.
