OWC has announced two new Thunderbolt 5 solutions targeting Mac Studio and Mac mini users, namely the StudioStack and Merucy Helios 5S.

OWC StudioStack (1)

The StudioStack is a stackable hybrid storage system delivering up to 6302MB/s real-world performance, with capacities up to 8TB NVMe SSD and 24TB HDD. Designed with aircraft-grade aluminum, it provides rugged protection, effective heat dissipation, and near-silent operation through an adaptive fan system. Users gain expanded connectivity with three Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) ports and three USB-A 10Gb/s ports, and the modular design allows for future upgrades of both SSD and HDD storage.

Complementing this, the Mercury Helios 5S enables PCIe expansion for compact computers that lack internal slots. Supporting up to 6000MB/s bandwidth and a PCIe 4.0 x4 (x16 mechanical) slot, the chassis accommodates half-length, full-height, single or double-width cards for video capture, NVMe RAID, Ethernet, and audio I/O. Its three Thunderbolt 5 ports include 15W power delivery each, and tool-free installation ensures ease of use.

The OWC StudioStack is available for pre-order at US$329.99, with shipments planned for mid-December. Meanwhile, the Mercury Helios 5S is currently available for US$329.99.
