OWC delivers newly upgraded Express 4M2 enclosure with USB4 support and better cooling
OWC has introduced an updated version of its high-performance Express 4M2 enclosure, designed to meet the needs of creative professionals handling demanding workflows. The refreshed model now includes USB4 support, enhanced thermal management, and broader RAID compatibility, offering a quieter and more adaptable experience for Mac and PC users.

The new Express 4M2 continues to support up to four NVMe M.2 SSDs (in 2230, 2242, or 2280 form factors) and achieves real-world speeds of up to 3200MB/s. With RAID modes 0, 1, 4, 5, and 10 available via bundled OWC SoftRAID (on select models), users can optimize for speed, redundancy, or a hybrid setup depending on their workflow.
A major focus of this release is improved thermal performance as the enclosure features an aircraft-grade aluminum shell and smart adaptive fans that remain off during light use but activate under heavy loads to maintain peak speed with minimal noise. This ensures a near-silent operation ideal for video editors, photographers, and on-set professionals who need uninterrupted focus.
Compatibility is another key improvement with support provided to USB4, Thunderbolt, and USB-C, allowing seamless integration with both macOS and Windows systems. It also ships with a certified 40Gbps USB-C cable, simplifying setup across a wide range of devices.
Price and Availability
The updated Express 4M2 is now available for pre-order, priced at US$239.99 (enclosure only) and US$379.99 for a version bundled with a 3-year license of SoftRAID, and shipping begins next week.
