Kingston’s IronKey D500S achieves NIST FIPS 140-3 Level 3 security validation for absolute protection of data
Kingston has announced its IronKey D500S USB drive has NIST FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validation, making it the first and only hardware-encrypted USB drive to pair this certification with a TAA-compliant and trusted supply chain.

Originally conceptualized in 2020, the IronKey D500S was built around XTS-AES 256-bit encryption and the latest NIST standard, FIPS 140-3 Level 3, while also surpassing basic TAA compliance by ensuring that all critical components and processes align with both TAA and CMMC requirements.
Kingston sourced its secure microprocessor, digitally signed firmware, NAND Flash chips, and other key parts exclusively from trusted TAA-compliant suppliers, assembling them under tightly controlled, engineering-supervised conditions at its California facility. Each drive features matching internal and external serial numbers to enhance asset tracking and endpoint management.
Not only that, this is also the first of its kind to offer a dual-partition option, enabling administrators to create separate secure partitions with multiple password authentication, including a hidden file store that remains invisible on untrusted systems. Additional protections include a Global Read-Only mode, Crypto-Erase capabilities for emergency data destruction, and anti-tampering safeguards reinforced by a rugged zinc casing with IP67 dust and water resistance.
With storage capacities up to 512GB, a 5-year warranty, and free technical support, the IronKey D500S is positioned as a top-tier solution for organizations requiring uncompromising data security.
