Hands-Free Future: Alipay+ and Meizu Debut Smart Glasses Payments in Hong Kong
The future of payments just got a lot more hands-free. Alipay+, Ant International’s unified wallet gateway, has launched its smart glasses-embedded payment solution for global e-wallets. This isn’t a futuristic concept; the world’s first real-world transaction was successfully completed in Hong Kong with global tech leader Meizu.
This groundbreaking move follows Alipay’s earlier smart glasses payment exploration with Rokid in China, now extending this innovation globally. The successful payment utilized Meizu StarV Snap smart glasses and AlipayHK, Hong Kong’s leading superapp. Users can now make seamless payments with QR scans or voice commands directly from their smart glasses.
Alipay+ is leveraging advanced AI-powered voice interface, intent recognition, and voiceprint authentication technologies to enable these secure, intuitive transactions.
Meizu officially announced this global pioneering offline AI glasses-enabled mobile payment function in April 2025. All new Meizu smart glasses will integrate Alipay+’s advanced payment SDK solutions, supported by Meizu’s industry-leading optical waveguide display, voice noise reduction, and camera-based code scanning technologies.
This new smart glasses payment feature is set to roll out to Alipay+’s global partner e-wallets throughout 2025, as their upgraded tech suite for smart glasses is integrated. This signifies a wide-ranging ambition to bring this futuristic payment method to millions worldwide.
Alipay+ is actively accelerating innovations to support e-wallets’ transition into seamless commerce. Currently, Alipay+ connects over 1.7 billion user accounts on 36 global e-wallets, national QR schemes, and banking apps to 100 million merchants across 70+ core markets.
For e-wallet partners, a single integration with Alipay+ provides access to an expanding toolkit for customer engagement and business growth. This includes QR-based and card payments via a global NFC solution, and a full range of agentic AI features, such as AI payments built on their Alipay+ GenAI Cockpit (an AI-as-a-Service platform for fintech companies).
