Canon Malaysia adds new camera and lenses to broaden its cinema and hybrid ecosystem
Canon Malaysia has introduced three new additions to its imaging lineup: the D227 Cinema EOS Camera, CTZ236 Cine-Servo Lens, and L340 Hybrid Lens, all of which are crafted to empower filmmakers, content creators, and production teams.
D227 Cinema EOS Camera
Being the brand’s most compact Cinema EOS camera, the Canon D227 packs a 7K full-frame CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV 7 processor, offering 7K 60P RAW video recording, 4K 120P, and 32MP still photography.
It supports open gate recording for flexible reframing across horizontal, vertical, or square formats, and Simultaneous Crop Recording to capture full-frame and cropped content at once. A modular design with a detachable handle, dual XLR inputs, and versatile rigging ensures agility for both major productions and fast-paced shoots.
CTZ236 Cine-Servo Lens
Moving on, the CTZ236 Cine-Servo lens delivers Canon’s widest-ever coverage with an ultra-wide 11 mm focal length and a 100-degree angle of view. Weighing just 3 kg, it’s light enough for shoulder rigs, gimbals, cranes, or robotic setups, yet offers 8K HDR optical performance and an 11-blade iris for truly cinematic imagery.
Plus, its removable e-Xs V Digital Drive Unit offers precise servo control, smooth iris adjustments, and advanced metadata output. Available in both RF and PL mounts, the lens supports Cooke /i Technology, ZEISS eXtended Data, and Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF.
L340 Hybrid Lens
Last on the list is the L340 Hybrid lens, the brand’s first medium-telephoto lens in the f/1.4 VCM hybrid prime lineup, joining the 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm models. With its 85mm focal length and bright f/1.4 aperture, the lens is ideal for portraits, close-ups, and cinematic storytelling.
Weighing just 636g, it offers professional-grade optics in a more portable build, alongside features like a clickless iris ring, focus-breathing suppression, weather sealing, and Canon’s Air Sphere Coating (ASC) for reduced flare and ghosting.
