New Biwin CL100 Mini SSD targets ultra compact device with coin-sized PCIe 4.0 performance

Biwin has announced a couple of new products belonging to its mini SSD portfolio, which are the CL100 Mini SSD and accompanying RD510 Mini SSD Reader.

Despite its tiny dimensions of 15.0 mm x 17.0 mm x 1.4 mm, the CL100 supports PCIe 4.0 x2 with NVMe 1.4 and delivers up to 3700 MB/s read and 3400 MB/s write speeds, while supporting capacities of up to 2TB. Biwin argues that this level of performance effectively makes traditional embedded storage standards like eMMC and UFS feel outdated, especially in scenarios where on-device AI processing requires both speed and density.

The drive is built using advanced LGA packaging that integrates the controller and flash into an ultra-compact footprint, making it suitable for ultra-thin laptops, mini PCs, handheld gaming devices, and other space-constrained designs. Beyond performance and size, the CL100 is also rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and is designed to survive drops of up to 3 meters, indicating that Biwin is also targeting durability for mobile and industrial use cases.

Alongside the CL100, Biwin introduced the RD510 Mini SSD Reader, which is purpose-built to work with the drive and supports up to 3300 MB/s read and 3000 MB/s write speeds over USB 4.0 using the included USB-C to USB-C cable. The company emphasizes plug-and-play operation with cross-platform compatibility, removing the need for dedicated drivers and simplifying deployment across devices.

With this launch, Biwin is reinforcing its strategy around high-speed miniature storage as a key enabler for future edge computing platforms, where performance, power efficiency, and physical footprint are expected to become even more critical across consumer and enterprise hardware.
